  1. In my childhood, I dreamt of getting into computer engineering. I used to practice ethical hacking by following Ankit Fadia (an ethical hacker), and as a tech geek use to follow gadgets unboxing. However, I decided to join Mechanical Engineering as it’s considered to be an ever-green domain.

2. During my undergrad, on getting exposure to building cars from scratch, I decided to pursue a career in the Automotive industry. I even got the opportunity to work with Ford Motors and Mahindra & Mahindra for a year during my internship. However, after graduation, I ended up joining with Fortune 500 company as a Project consultant.

3. While working at the first organization, I enjoyed dealing with stakeholders and handling projects. So, I decided to pursue MBA. Even after, spending 3 years preparing for CAT and GMAT I could not make it to a good MBA college in India or Germany.

4. At last I decided to pursue a career in the data domain as I always wanted to get into something related to computer engineering. I started learning Microsoft Excel, Python, and BI tools through online courses.

5. I found it so interesting, that I decided to take a break from the job and learn it from scratch by pursuing a master’s in data analytics. On making this decision, a lot of people asked me to think again as it was a huge risk. People’s words did induce imposter syndrome, but my family and friends knew my perseverance and gave me the confidence that I would be able to make it.

6. Today, while pursuing a master’s in Data Analytics, I got the opportunity to:

  • Work as a Data Analyst with LinkedIn
  • Worked as a Teaching Assistant for 5 courses
  • Won 2 Hackathons
  • Guide and Mentor 50+ fellow students who made a transition from a Non-CS background to a data domain.

My life has been highly inspired by this famous quote by Charles Darwin: “It is not the strongest of the species that survives, nor the most intelligent that survives. It is the one that is most adaptable to change.” It ain’t about how hard you hit, it’s about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward.

It’s fine to not have clarity of goals in life. Having a sherpa mentality (not having a goal in life but keeping on striving for success) helps you find it.
